Hi I recently opened up a paypal account as my client prefers this method of payment. I verified my bank/card with the 2 small deposits, so I should be good to go right? I received my first payment from my client and attempted to transfer to my bank, only to be told that paypal can't transfer the funds to my bank at this time, and it gave me absolutely no explanation for the hold-up. I called customer service 3 times (one of which hung up before I even reached a representative). They told me that paypal put a hold on my funds for 72 hours because "they system doesn't think I am who I say I am". Fine, but I need my money ASAP, so what are my options? 1. Open a new account at another bank. . . 2. Send money to a friend who also has a paypal account 3. Go to walmart and withdraw $500 per day until I have withdrawn all my funds MY QUESTION/COMPLAINT TO PAYPAL IS: - How is sending money from my paypal balance to a friend's paypal any safer than receiving funds directly in my bank account? - Why does the Paypal website not clearly state when and why my account is being blocked/limited? It took me almost 2 hours to get to a customer service rep who communicated that to me. This is my first time using paypal and thus far, the experience has been completely unintuitive, frustrating and the solutions being provided to me seem so unsound/inconvenient that it seriously concerns me to use this service. I certainly hope I will be able to access my own funds, but at this point, the possibility of losing my own money on this service seems plausible, and I fear that Paypal's poor customer service might not be able to help me, should that situation arise. The sheer number of other threads with similarly concerning problems is even more worrying. Anyways, I am pretty disappointed in this service. Just a warning for those considering using paypal - There are far more convenient payment methods out there.
