I removed my bank as the backup funding source from my PayPal business debit card many months ago and left the field blank. However, for my merchant subscription payments which have been setup in some cases for years, PayPal continues to use my bank as a backup funding source even though it was removed. Because I rarely have a balance in my bank account I keep accumulating $37 NSF fees. PayPal has yet to resolve this issue. I have absorbed many of these $37 NSF fees myself. In many instances PayPal attempts to collect the PayPal fee from my bank twice per transaction even if additional funds have been added to my PayPal account. There have been a couple of instances where PayPal has credited me for the fees that should have never occurred since PayPal should have just declined the charge if there were no funds in my PayPal balance. PayPal support used to be great, but now I keep getting combative agents who instead of acknowledging that there is a bug in their system want to tell me that the NSF fees are a result of my not having funds in my account. Their stance is the issue exists because I (a) I don't have a PayPal balance, (b) I didn't have funds in my bank account and I continue to use the card, which again is processing auto renewal subscription fees. This is "customer service". Their approach to the problem should be based on the root of the problem. There is no accountability from PayPal for sending transactions to a bank account that I detached from my card months ago. I keep having 1-hour long calls with agents who are more interested in arguing and making up excuses to place the blame on me than listening and resolving a problem that PayPal has created. Today's agent told me that usually they want to see my bank statement so they can see the funds were rejected (I'm the villain in their story) but the reason they are attempting to collect payment from my bank a second time is because there were no funds in the account to collect the first time. Today they suggested shutting down my business debit card since a new card was sent out a few days ago, which I agreed to. Anyone else having this issue? I've paid so many of these $37 fees myself (the majority). PayPal refunded me twice. I'm blown away by the poor support and lack of accountability that I've received from PayPal lately. Today I was talking and mid sentence was just put on hold. PayPal support used to be great.
