Flashy click bait titles aside, here is the full story. I had to set up my bank card to transfer funds from eBay sales to my bank account. I primarily use my credit card for transactions, so I set up my MasterCard as the default payment. I don't keep a lot of money in my checking account and is used primarily for rent and preauthorized subscriptions and payments. I made an eBay purchase and despite me changing my default payment method to my MasterCard my bank card was charged. This ended with the bank charging me an nsf fee and putting my PayPal balance into the negatives. I tried to balance the PayPal balance using my credit card but the transaction needed to be done using my bank account. I transfer the funds to my account from my bank account and balance the PayPal account. I proceed to continue using my PayPal account to transfer money as usual. I noticed that a transaction that was made had an additional 269 dollars charge added to it. I was surprised and called PayPal, the representative told me that it was a bug in their system and it did not register the first payment I made because the payment takes 5-6 business to proceed but any further transactions I made would not charge me the additional 269 Dollars. the next day I proceed to use my PayPal account as usual and this time I use my credit card. The credit card gets charged an additional 269 dollars but this time the PayPal balance actually balances. Annoyed but not quite losing my mind just yet, I shrug it off. So far, there is over 500 dollars being transferred to my PayPal balance for absolutely no reason. I wake up the next day and check to see if my payments went through my banking account the night before. I notice that PayPal has charged me an additional 269 again to my banking account!!!! Even though I have not used it through PayPal. Now I'm absolutely livid but still maintaining my composure and politeful attitude towards the customer service rep. The rep basically said he couldn't do anything it was over his pay grade but forwarded me to his supervisor. When I got into contact with her she barely knew the nuances of my situation and basically repeated the same corporate jargon over and over again. When confronted with the fact that I will now be charged an additional fee to retrieve my funds in a timely manner she repeated over and over again that PayPal is not a seller they simply transfer funds and any fees are simply how the system works. She eventually just stopped answering me while staying on the line like some sort of serial killer. PayPal literally stole 800+ dollars from me and is charging me even more money to get my money back. Right now I am contacting my bank to mark any PayPal activity withdrawing money from my account as fraud since PayPal refuses to do anything meaningful.
