Hi, it has been a while now that we are receiving $$ from a friend on monthly basis now. They have always been using the "family & friend" option, but just recently, I noticed that the transaction was charged with 3% fee. I called up PayPal, and they insist that my friend chose the wrong option to send money as buying a product. When asked that if I am to "void" the transaction, the agent kept telling me that I will still be charged with the fee.
In the email dated 9/19/19 "Upcoming User Agreement Refund Policy Change" it clearly stated that " In line with industry practice and according to our updated policy, we will not charge a fee to process refunds, but the fees from the original transaction will not be returned. This policy will not apply to duplicate transactions, voids and most disputed transactions. You can review the PayPal User Agreement for more information on our return policies."
So if this is my friend's fault, and I am to void and reject this transaction, why would I still be penalized with the 3% service charge?? Thoughts? Is this even legal?? I have a full recording with the conversation that we had with the PayPal agent which I will be happy to share. Thanks!
