PLEASE HELP! So, PayPal put almost $4gs of mine on a 180 day hold last November of 2018. I couldn’t pay my rent, lost my house and was literally homeless, and in that timeframe, almost everything I owned was stolen from me, including my phone. When I finally received the email in May stating that my funds were eligible for withdrawal, I tried to get into my account to withdraw them, and after entering my email and password, I am taken to the “A quick security check” screen, and the only option available is to receive a text message to the phone number of my long since stolen phone. I have literally spent probably 100 hours on the phone with PayPal since then in an effort to resolve this and finally receive my money back but have gotten nowhere. I tried to call Verizon to have the number reinstated but it’s already been assigned to someone else. I try to call it and message it just about every day but have never gotten an answer or response even after trying to bribe the new owner of the number with money to give me the code. PayPal tells me there’s nothing else they can do and to keep trying. ***UPDATE Now, two different times, I have received emails telling me to verify my newly added bank account on my PayPal Account when I HAVE NOT added a new bank account, so clearly my account is compromised somehow even though I immediately changed my password both times (since that’s all I can do with no account access) Also, I should note that very rarely does it give me the option to answer my security questions, but when it does and I try, I’m told one or more of the answers is wrong, though I know that to be completely untrue. ...and it may be nothing, but one of the questions is what was my favorite childhood toy, and oddly favorite is spelled the European spelling “favourite” and that’s odd to me... I’ve offered to provide any sort of supporting verification documents (again just like I did when my account got limited) and I’ve answered the credit bureau questions correctly multiple times over, I’ve had a representative send me a password reset link and try from there literally at least 25 times. I’ve gone to PayPal.com/wd funds countless times, I’ve tried all of this from my phone, iPad, computer, other people’s devices...I’ve done everything short of perusing legal action but that will have to be my next step if this isn’t resolved immediately. It’s abusive and negligent on PayPal’s part to not have a work around to this and keep thousands of dollars that they most likely are earning interest on, hostage for a year....especially now that my account is being accessed by someone else who is able to add a bank account when I can’t even add a bank account myself. That makes NO sense. ***I am posting from my friends account since I can’t log in to my own to post.
