I am in the same boat. I lost my wallet and had over $600 of unauthorized transactions made within several days of each other. When I realized money was withdrawn WITHOUT MY PERMISSION I moved the remaining balance of my money via instant transfer to my bank. I called to report my card lost and reported the unauthorized transactions. All three were denied within 24 hours and the appeals denied again within 24 hours. If the only evidence they go off of is what you report, why do I get an email that was obviously copied and pasted to all three separate emails stating that the account was logged into during that time and I should have noticed the transactions and called soon. “Account holder was aware of authorized activity.” They accuse me of commuting fraud with that statement! And yes. It is one miserable person who looks over these cases and makes a decision. Probably had a bad day and is like I don’t care, I want other people to be miserable too. The notes written in my opened claims stated specifically that I DID NOT GIVE PERMISSION to use my card. How does this represent PayPal Mastercards ZERO% LIABILITY against unauthorized purchases. They said I didn’t report it in time... huh? I called within 2 days which is within the 60 days they give you to report unauthorized transactions. So did I follow my end of the user agreement to report lost cards within 2 days? YES! Did I report the unauthorized transactions within 60 days? YES! Did I try and keep my account safe? YES! I logged in and moved my remaining cash out and had a zero balance and still the third and final UNAUTHORIZED transaction went through via my PayPal debit/MasterCard with zero% fraud liability and I had a ZERO balance! How was this even done if there was no money in my account?! I Held up my end of their MasterCard agreement, why don’t they? Once it’s denied, it’s denied. There is no escalation. I was on the phone yesterday for 3 hours trying to speak to a competent supervisor and no one could explain to me why I followed my end of the agreement and PayPal does not. I am at a loss as you are my friend. I do not know what else to do. If I keep calling, I know I will keep getting the same poor lip-service. And since they are on recorded lines, they simply refuse to tell you how to go about any further appeals. They just say “there is none”. From what I googled, thousands of people are getting this same treatment. If their explanation to me is that I knew about these transactions then why haven’t they called the authorities as I am commuting fraud. They don’t because they deny your claim without any proof and if they did call the police, they would have to show proof I committed fraud and they have no proof and thus, my claims AND YOUR claims should be found in our favor. PayPal is a complete and utter joke.
