This issue is a longstanding problem with PayPal and has been covered by a number of threads - despite user feedback, PayPal do not action as most people do not realise that all the addresses that they have EVER used on PayPal are automatically saved on the PayPal system, but are then invisible for the user from both the app and the website. They only appear when checking out on a live transaction on PayPal (app or website), as options for delivery - even then you cannot delete or update them. In my case, having been a paypal user for 15 years, I had 30 different addresses - some dating back to 2005 - and more recent addresses with typos/errors in them. However, under the Manage Address options on the profile page (when logged in) the site only shows my current, correct, shipping and billing address - which I updated when I moved house a few years ago. No other options or old addresses are there. When calling the PayPal helpdesk to try and get the old "shipping addresses" removed, they tried repeatedly to tell me to do so via the 'Manage Addresses' setting next to the settings section - he simply would not believe that I could not see these dozens of addresses (which, I guess, he could, as an admin). He agreed with me it was very strange that a normal user could not see (and thus control) this information. He told me that he thinks that a Business Account user can do this - so maybe it is a technical oversight? Anyway, after a 45 minute call, he removed all of the 30 old addresses, but this was a waste of a huge amount of my time, that no other website (financial or e-commerce) makes you go through for a simple administrative act). The best description of the problem (amongst many many online forum threads - it is a longstanding problem, after all) is on an old Community thread at https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/About-Settings/How-to-delete-old-addresses/td-p/972266 - but unfortunately the solution identified in 2017 no longer works as PayPal have updated their system interface. As well as the whole issue being once of inconvenience (if the wrong address is selected, your item goes to the wrong person), and a bit creepy, there is a Data Protection (and security) issue here, as this is surely covered in GDPR as "retaining personal information unnecessarily" (especially when I cannot see what they hold), so PayPal really need to get their act together on this. Solution is really easy. On the profile page, under "Manage Addresses", include all the old shipping addresses that are hidden elsewhere on the system, that can be updated, or deleted, as required. Come on PayPal, you can do this - why wouldn't you? __ PS Update - no, they are not cached/cookie address held locally - they are hidden on my actual Paypal account and only appear when checking out.
