The situation is this: I bought a watch that costs $50 from a website, and I received a different item that normally only costs $4-$5. I obviously don't want a different item, especially when paying 10x its real price. I paid with PayPal. And here's where PayPal has no customer protection, and the scammers know this! The seller's website had no contact information, no way to contact anyone. I disputed this transaction with PayPal, and I received a response where the seller said that I must return the item in order to receive a refund. The seller insisted that I used DHL for that. The return shipping price from my country with DHL would exceed the price that I paid for the fake item! PayPal did not help me, they only asked me to send the item back in order to receive a refund. I was stuck with junk I never ordered, and I got $50 stolen from me via PayPal. And the scammer got no punishment... My question is, how to avoid such scams? Has PayPal taken any measures that prevent this from happening to people in the future? Such scammers deliberately insist the most expensive return shipping so people wouldn't get refunded for scammy deals.
