I sold rare authentic fragrance (.5 oz) for $110, don't think it had been used prior to me testing, nearly mint shape (ink stamp batch code mostly missing, which they rub off easily), and smelled as it should. I included great photos on the listing. Listing stated no returns. Buyer received item 3 days after purchase. Buyer gave positive feedback 7 days after purchase. In violation of ebay rules, Buyer used my photos and listing language to resell item, or similar item, 11 days after purchase from me (for $120, which would net a loss after fees & shipping). Buyer opened return case for item claiming "Doesn't seem authentic -Fragrance was drained and filled with alternate fragrance" 25 days after purchase. Buyer admitted in message to me "... I ended up not needed so I resold it. The buyer who purchased it from me said it was not genuine." Which infers that it was shipped to third-party, then returned. Case on ebay was closed in my favor because buyer had resold item and shipped to another buyer, which invalidates his ability to use the ebay Money Back Guarantee. [Side note: I don't know how to open a spray fragrance, drain, and refill, nor would I ever do such] Someone mentioned that buyer can still try to get refund through paypal. If the item was resold and in another party's possession before being returned to my buyer, does that invalidate his ability to attempt to get a refund through paypal? Is there anything I should do to proactively protect myself? [Yes transaction shows eligible for seller protection and was shipped to address on paypal.]
