Ok here is what happened... I sold a circuit board on ebay. In the auction I posted connecting cable with it. Right after the "buy it now" for $700 was completed the buyer sent a message asking if the connecting cable was in good condition. I explained to the buyer that I actually didn't mean to include the connector in the listing but that since it was just a cheap $5 connector I would send it anyway. I then took several pictures of the connector and sent them to the buyer and asked if he just wanted to cancel the transaction. Buyer seen the pictures and said he wanted it. Fast forward to delivery day and buyer sends a message demanding $100 because he is not happy with the connector. I declined this. Buyer opens a claim with ebay and of course they make me accept a return and provide a shipping label. I do all of this. I felt something was up and since the package was $700 it was returned to me with signature confirmation. When the postal carrier delivered the package I recorded him on video and opened it in front of him. The postal carrier read off the buyers name and address on camera and also verified the contents of the package. The buyer only sent back the $5 connector and kept the $700 circuit board. I immediately sent a message to the buyer and informed him that I recorded the return and that he needed to close the claim because he was committing fraud. Buyer admitted he was keeping my merchandise and refused to send it back and also said he wasn't closing the case. I then called ebay and told customer service what had happened and what the buyer said in his message. The rep put me on hold and came back after 5 minutes and said yes that she sees the messages and that she was putting the claim on hold for 10 days because the buyer needed to return the item and that they would send him a new email asking if he needed a shipping label to complete his return. She then said if he didn't complete the return in 10 days that the case would automatically close. 2 days later the case closed in the buyers favor. PayPal withdrew $770 from my bank account. $700 for the buyer and $70 for commission for me selling the item using their platform. I have made police reports. I have filed a report with IC3. I have contacted ebay several times and explained to them what is going on and asked them to refer back to the messages where the buyer admitted he kept my item. It does no good. I wake up every morning with a template email from ebay saying unfortunately they will not reverse their decision to side with the buyer. Seriously? With all the things I had in my favor that's it? I have no other options? I appreciate any advice from the community. Thanks!
