I recently sold my iPhone 7 Plus through eBay. A member bought the phone on 16/12/18, I was communicating with him through email and had no response. Then all of a sudden he opened a case for returning the item through eBay a week later. I found it strange as rather than emailing me to let me know he went straight to a returns case. The reasoning was ‘dead pixels on LCD’ which isn’t true, my phone was in great condition it had little marks (not many) like normal of a 2 year old phone but it didn’t effect the functioning of the phone otherwise I would of stated that in my description. I only sold my phone as I recently upgraded my phone. I was going to trade my phone into Tesco but I thought I’d get more selling privately, they checked my phone condition before quoting me how much I’d receive (this was the day before I sold it) so it was in perfect condition. Once I saw the request I was communicating through the case comments but he never once responded so I had to contact eBay, I then went onto his feedback and that’s when I came across a feedback comment calling him a scammer that’s when I messaged this person and he told the what had happened to him, funnily enough it was an iPhone as well within the same month. Who needs two phones in the same month? That’s when I clicked that he’s definitely at it. So I uploaded photos on the case showing my phone working before I sent it I took pictures but didn’t upload all of them onto eBay, I’ve never sold on eBay before so I’m new to selling but I’ve used eBay since 2010 buying products. So eBay closed the case, he was reported and they said his account would be taken down for misusing policy restrictions and he couldn’t open the case again. So the day I got the email confirmation that it was case closed, I only then went and got an email from PayPal with him opening a returns request again. I instantly emailed PayPal as it was later at night they were closed to phone, I then refused the request and added why I refused. I phoned PayPal the next day, they said they’ll make this priority and that the outcome should be the same as eBay and they’ll look into his account. Then yesterday, I got an email 4.50am saying they’ve made the decision to allow the seller to return the item. Baring in mind I have told them about the other persons eBay case with same buyer and the phone not turning up, he was scammed plus the photos I had from my eBay case, I told them to contact eBay and they would confirm this. They have completely ignored this and went against everything. So I phoned as soon as it opened yesterday morning, the woman on the phone said they have to allow buyers to return the item. She told me not to worry, he would have to upload a photo of the tracking receipt within 10 days or he doesn’t get his money back. I asked about what happens if it’s an empty box she said you have 3 days to contact us and it’ll go to an investigation. I don’t know if anyone on here would best able to help me any further but any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you
