I have an account that is a secondary user in a business account. In this account, I can view all activity.
I can look at the details of every transaction by clicking on each transaction. There is a "Download" button at the top right of the table that displays the data. When I click "Download", I am prompted to pick the custom date range I want, select the format (csv, pdf, etc.) and whether I want the shopping cart details, etc.
I can also configure the columns I want to be part of the download data set in addition to the core columns. However, after doing all of that, at the bottom, I have a a "Download History" button. When I click "Download History", paypal website pretends to submit the form, fetch some urls, and the screen blinks and brings me right back to where I was. No error, no pop-up blocked, but no file generated, no download initiated, etc.
I'm wondering if there is some "permission" my user doesn't have. the documentation about paypal permissions for user management seems to be quite sparse. I saw a report of this same issue in 2011 that went without a response, but it would seem that someone who was a secondary user on a business paypal account would have been interested in downloading transactions/activity.
The documentation paypal support told me was that I should have a "Create Report" button. That button doesn't exist in the current UI. Paypal support wasn't sure what was going on and didn't give me much confidence that they will investigate the bug or even reach back out to me to try to observe the bug or issue. I've seen other paypal similar issues that were permissions issues, but there is no error handling/notifications. So if you are missing a permission, something may not work, but you won't get an error message indicating that you aren't authorized.
anyway...any secondary users out there that successfully can download activity? If so, what permissions is your user assigned?
Also- my username in paypal as a secondary user doesn't have an email address. some of the paypal log-in boxes force you to have a valid email address (like the mobile app), but my account has no email address. it is just a plain old 8 character username.
