If anyone can help, please give me some advice. I don’t know what else to do anymore except to reach out to a stranger at this point. My story starts like this, on the morning of October 21 2018 at around 6:15 am pacific time, I was on my computer playing video games. I left my computer for fifteen minutes to take care of some personal stuff and when I returned I noticed my computer mouse moving around on the screen and my credit account had been opened on the website. Realizing someone had taken over my computer remotely, I quickly exited all browsers. At the time, I didn’t know what kind of damage had been done so I checked my email and sure enough the culprit had already forwarded $198 to his PayPal account using my PayPal. He/she got in to my account because I have passwords auto saved onto my websites...not smart but it was my personal computer so who would’ve thought a hacker was going to get in? I immediately filed an unauthorized transaction report on PayPal hoping to resolve this problem but they denied it this morning when I got home from work to check. The reasoning was that my account was “consistent” with this person somehow even though I do not know this person (I do have this persons email through the PayPal transaction). I’ve never dealt with this person so I am a bit confused by PayPal’s statement. I DID request my money back through this person but quickly canceled it because obviously this hacker wasn’t going to return my money. I’m at a lost for words. I feel abandoned and this person gets away with $198. I spoke with my bank and they temporarily credited the money back but since the case has been denied the credit has also been revoked. Somebody tell me what I should do, I worked hard for my money and fell victim to online hacking. It is hard to prove anything through just online messaging...I feel like PayPal didn’t try hard enough to look things over and simply concluded the decision to deny my case apparently due to “consistency”. I will mail a letter to their department of unauthorized transactions requesting the files they used in their investigation on my case as stated in the email they sent me. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance.
