I bought two vintage Victorian candelabras from a woman online. They looked terrific in the photographs but when I asked about provenance she brushed me off .She said she was an antique dealer closing down her shop and disposing of old stock,She wanted me to pay by bank transfer buty luckily I insisted on paypal; and on myhermes as couriers .When the items arrived they were badly damaged one looked as if it had melted in a fire. The other one could not stand flat on a flat surface but tilted up slightly,The seller insisted they had been damaged in transit by myhermes but the damage is so severe it could not have been caused simply by dropping a heavy silver plated candelabra on the ground.I told seller I wanted a full refund because items were not the goods I ordered and I said the goods were insured on myhermes and she should make a claim with them.Seller claims she has complained and made a claim with myhermes but I doubt it,myhermes would have checked the goods. She refuses absolutely to refund me any of the money I paid her.She also removed all the pics of the candelabras she had posted online,Luckily I kept copies of everything. Our dispute is in the resolution centre but its not progressing. She denies everything and claims myhermes did all the damage .She says I insulted and harassed her because I called her a liar and brought the dispute up with paypal.I apologised and said I wanted to settle the dispute amicably and restated my view that as the goods which arrived were not as advertised but badly damaged she should give me a full refund of £160 and then pursue her claim against myhermes if she wishes..She is no longer replying to messages.I have until 1st march to escalate this to a claim with paypal,Should I wait until then, its possible she might change her mind or escalate the claim immediately as she is not prepared to deal with me.I might also add she is clearly a very wealthy woman who can easily afford to refund me .I am a disabled man living on a very limited income. sellers first response as they appeared in ad worst damaged least damaged
