There is an account with my email address, and a payment was directed toward my email. Unfortunately, this paypal account does not belong to me, or if it did, it does not use my name. If I try to reset the misnamed account's password via the website/my email address, I get "Sorry, something went wrong on our end. Please try again." error message. I called PayPal, but both the regular customer service rep, and the 'security' customer service rep said to ask the payer to file a dispute, as they cannot verify who I am without my name. Asking the payer to file a dispute might get my money to me, (albeit not in a prompt manner) but it doesn't solve my issue. My email address is still bound to an incorrect account, and if I make a mistake sometime in the future, I might give that email when asking for a payment. How can I revoke my email address from this phantom account? How can I receive my payment in a prompt manner?
