I had to purchase a new evaporative cooler online today. Later on, I received the aforementioned text message; however, there was no $ amount, no recipient name, and no link or phone number included in the message. I do periodically make purchases using my PayPal Credit account, yet this is the 1st time I have ever received a text like this. I've just read through the entire Community Forum Board and I still have a couple of questions for moderator, Ashley, since she has been so helpful to this point. * First, if these are legitimate texts from PP, why are some of them missing critical information that would lend credibility to the message? * In one of your responses, you casually mentioned that the commenter had not responded within 10 minutes, therefore, the transaction was processed as legitimate. Exactly how much time does one have to respond to the message before the transaction is approved? Ten minutes is not very much time! What if the person is in a meeting, at a funeral, or otherwise indisposed?? * As another commenter mentioned, if we are to trust that these text messages are truly from PayPal, why are we not seeing copies of the message in our Account Inbox or receiving a separate email alert along with the text messages?? When I got my message, the first thing I did was to search for an email from PayPal. When I didn't find one in my personal email, I immediately logged in to my PayPal account and looked for additional information and messages to clarify that the message I received was, in fact, legitimate. Err on the side of being over cautious. After all, it's not YOUR money that's at risk!
