Foreword: These are all hypotheticals. I don't intent to test any of these, I just want to know how PayPal handles these sort of matters for some peace of mind.
Question 1: if a PayPal account name would be the first letter of the user's real name, but surname is fully written out, and a bank account is linked, would PayPal still be able to restore the account in that case? Or does the first name have to be fully written out as well?
Question 2: say if one had registered an account under a pseudonym, but linked his bank account to it, would PayPal still be able to grant access back to that user if he'd be locked out of his account?
Question 3: generally speaking, which methods does PayPal take to verify one's identity when a user is locked out of his account? I've read about scanning in a copy of your passport, ID card and/or a bankstatement. But what else?
If you've linked your bank account to your PayPal, would you have to send a specific amount of a few cents to a PayPal address, in order to verify that you're the owner of the linked bank account (and thus your PayPal account)?
Would they check your passport number if you've added one?
Would they send you a mail to your email address that you've registered with?
Would they ask you to give a TOTP/SMS code if you've activated a security key?
Would they call your phone number to verify your identity?
And must all of the above methods pass, or will they fall back on one or the other or a combination in between them if one of the methods doesn't work?
