Hi All! After having a fairly successful eBay account and withdrawing fairly large amounts of money, PayPal has now decided that my withdrawal of £100 needs a ‘security check’!! I have spoken to someone at PayPal this morning and she said my requested withdrawal is on hold until 10.30 Thursday morning!? What on Earth is the point of making cash through eBay, if you then have to wait 3 days for your own cash?? I’ve withdrawn amounts before and it’s been instantaneous but this time, there is some sort of security check. I know that they have ‘the right’ to check any transfers/payments etc, and when I spoke to the lady at PayPal, she was actually quite condescending and rude, as if I was stupid and didn’t understand the whole process. It was completely pointless contacting them, I may as well have sent a pigeon. I have found most of my dealings with PayPal completely frustrating and would love to be able to sell on eBay without dealing with them. I tried to withdraw a much smaller amount of £40 this morning, simply to tie us over and they’re now holding that too! I don’t get why there is the need for such massive security checks! I told the lady that myself and my partner have done all that PayPal requested etc and her reason for the 3 day hold on OUR money was because “someone could just log into your account and withdraw all of your money...” . We had to jump through so many hoops just to open a PayPal account, I find that hard to believe! We are responsible users, who always have funds in our account, both bank accounts have been verified, I don’t understand the need for all of this. It’s put us in a real financial dilemma and I’m now worried about withdrawing anything from my PayPal account in case we have to go through this again! I jokingly said “shall we transfer the money 3-4 days before we need it next time?” And the lady on the phone actually turned around and said “that’s probably the best idea!” I know I’m going to get peopl come back to me on here and say it’s normal, it’s protocol etc, but that doesn’t stop it being frustrating. I am truly fed up of dealing with PayPal, and the worst thing is, I can’t do anything about it apart from wait for my own money to hit my account. It all seems very unfair. I could go and draw £350 out of my account now and there would be no questions asked! PayPal has been a complete nightmare for us. Sorry for ranting, I’m truly fed up!

I’m really glad this works for you Kernolass, but the OP needs his money! No need to such a sarcastic moron, is there? They’re currently holding a few hundred pounds of my money, even though my account has been open for 7+ years! The only explanation I got was ‘buyer protection’. Never mind the fact that I have 100% positive feedback! I need MY money! I’ve supplied all relevant postage/tracking info, I’ve never had a case opened against me and yet, they STILL have put a hold on MY cash! It’s wrong! So, whilst it’s great that you know all about these little loopholes some of us have to jump through just to access our own funds, some empathy and understanding goes a long way. Your comment is totally unnecessary and reeks of great self importance.
