It sounds like you've already done the right thing by starting a dispute. I would make sure you do not close the dispute however. If you do, you would no longer be eligible for PayPal Purchase Protection.
If you are concerned that you won't be receiving the item you purchase, opening a dispute for Item Not Received is the best first step. You can find more information about the process here.
