Discovered that someone used one of my email addresses to open a Paypal account without my consent. I tried to log in that account, and despite I could get a email with a link to reset the account I could not get pass the security questions (of course I cant get pass, as those questions were not set up by me), nor can I ask Paypal to call me (because that number on that account is unknown number to me, a number not of my location). I called up the Paypal service number to report the problem and ask them to delete that account. The attendant told me it was setup in the USA (I am in Asia) and gave me a email address to report that so that Paypal could do something about it. I sent the email complain. Couple of days later I receive an email from Paypal asked to contact me at the USA phone number on record (which Paypal can never get to me given that number was not mine). I replied by saying they would not be able to contact me through that number because that number was not mine. Heard nothing from Paypal thereafter even though I followed up by sending and resending my complaint through email. What's ludicrous was that Paypal later sent me an email for a survey on my feedback about how they handled my complaint! I dont know whether that account has been used for fraud. In any case, its obvious that if your email is being used unauthorised to open a Paypal account, or that someone hacked into your Paypal account and changed passwords and contact number, you simply cannot retrieve the control of your account through the email account you used for that Paypal account. Is there anything I can do to get that account deleted? Its just scary how Paypal handled this
