I'm not a US citizen, and no longer live in the US since 2017. I was a student from 2011-2016 living in Boston (F1 visa). During my studies, In 2014, had a 6 months internship, which was required in my program. Therefore, I was provided with a temporary 6 months SSN (now expired).
In 2016, I started an online website for fun on SHOPIFY and linked it with PayPal to receive payments. My PayPal was linked to my US bank account (still active), as well as my expired SSN (not sure how that worked).
I sold license plate frames from a supplier in China, to customers worldwide.
Yesterday, I received a 1099k form from PayPal due to having sales over $20K in 2018. I've informed PayPal still pending response.
Therefore, since im not a US citizen, and don't have direct labor/suppliers etc.. In the US, do I still need to file the 1099k form??
What does filing even mean? Am I subject to pay tax? If yes, what or what % etc.. Please advise.
