Hello, my PayPal account was recently locked due to the fact that there were large amounts of payments coming into my account. A friend had owed me some money and he just sent all of the money to my PayPal, the total is around $9,000. Paypal first asked me for information about my Social Security, Bank, and credit/debit card. I have sent my social security and bank information and for some reason, they rejected my bank statement because they said they can not see my name in the pictures I uploaded. I told them if I can resend the pictures and the customer service told me yes I can resend them but I would have to wait a day or so. About an hour later Paypal told me that they are shutting down my account and that they will hold my money ($8,275.55) for 180 days. I called support over and over again and eventually, one of their members told me that my funds will be released earliest in 90 days if there are not any disputes or legal action taken against my account or me. I asked the customer representative if he can confirm this and he told me that was going to happen. Well, that was back in February and today I called back just confirming because that 90 day period is coming up and they told me they will stick to their 180 days and that guy gave me false information. Heres the problem, I owe people money, I explained to them my situation and told them PayPal told me they will unlock my account in 90 days. I have already adjusted my schedule and made a lot of changes revolving around when my money will be released until now PayPal tells me that they cannot and will not release my funds. Furthermore, one of their supervisors told me that 180 days is the standard time for a lot of other credit card and financial institutions to give to the members (which I thought was absolute BS). Anyways, I was wondering if you guys could help me out because I am extremely confused on what I should do right now. Are they allowed to hold my money for 180 days even though their customer service confirmed that it will be released around 90 days? I need that money asap and any help would be really appreciated. Thank you
