I recently sold an item on ebay for around $1800 and shipped to Canada. I was reluctant to sell the item internationally, but the buyer kept pushing the issue for me to sell. I eventually gave in and paid a pretty penny to ship the item internationally. The one thing that I regret is the rush to ship the item. I shipped USPS and could only get partial coverage since it was partly shipped into Canada. Thinking back, I am not even sure I could have gotten signature confirmation (since the postmaster stated that they could only handle things on the US end). So, I went ahead and shipped. Fourteen days after it says it is delivered, the buyer claims he did not receive it. Paypal awards the case to the buyer (in a matter of 3 days) because of no signature. I made the mistake of no signature. Here's the part I have a problem with: 1) The buyer is selling my item on ebay currently (same pictures/same descriptions). He placed it on ebay before the claim and I didn't catch it until after paypal made a hastily decision on the claim. 2) The item was shipped to a PO Box. I called Canadian post and they confirmed the address of shipping (correct PO Box) and informed me that the owner of the box and/or someone with same physical address could only pick up item with government issued ID. So, basically no different than if your spouse signed for your item at your doorstep. The proof is in the locked box. 3) I talked to eBay and the buyer originally opened a claim there and it was ruled in my favor because of other fraudulent activity during purchase. I submitted all this evidence in an appeal to paypal's decision and all I get is you didn't get a signature. If you could get a signature, then you can appeal. I am like, so go back in time and get a signature? If the buyer is fraudulent, then he is not going to sign now. I mean I am showing evidence that the buyer received my item, is fraudulent, and is currently selling it, and it does not matter to paypal in terms of the appeal; I did not get a signature. I am assuming the buyer could admit to receiving the package now and it wouldn't matter; I did not get signature. I just think this is ridiculous as I am a small time "honest" seller. I sold a collectible (rare) to make some extra money for Christmas. I am out of the item now and have no money for the item. Has anyone experienced anything like this and have any advice? PS: I understand that by the buyer selling the item on eBay could mean that he purchased the item elsewhere and is selling it. Although the proof is not 100%, there are only 650 statues made in the world, and the circulation of these statues is very rare (3 sold in the past year). How would he have gotten such a rare item so quick before the claim processed against me (especially not knowing the outcome)? Also, why would the buyer have used my exact pictures and description?
