Online vendors have turned into a 2nd tier of spammers these days - once you make one single purchase from them, they never stop spamming you with marketing emails. For many online vendors I can use my credit card to make the purchase, then I create a quick throwaway email address for the transaction that can be deleted if the marketing emails begin. But sometimes I'm not totally sure I should give my credit card information to an online vendor. That's where PayPal comes in. Only PayPal gives these vendors the email address that they require me to use as a login username. So when the marketing spams begin, I have to change my PayPal login address to stop them. Since I also use PayPal for recurring monthly donation payments, this means I also have to notify all those charities of the change. I’ve emailed PayPal about this concern, this is their response: "At this time, PayPal does not offer the feature that you have requested to assign a disposable email address for your purchases. . . . I guarantee that they won't be able to access your PayPal account as well as your financial information." Does anyone else share this concern, and are there any ideas about how to avoid giving vendors our PayPal login username as the email address they should use to contact us?
