Today I tried to buy something on eBay. When I tried to log into my Paypal account while completing my transaction on eBay I was denied. I contacted eBay and then Paypal to try to resolve this issue. The operator was extremely unhelpful (the only good thing she did was redirect me to another operator). Here's basically the conversation: Me: (Explain that I can't log into my Paypal account on eBy to complete a transaction) Operator: (Tells me that the Paypal system denied my transaction because it deemed it "risky" because I was paying a few hundred USD and my account is relatively new, and that it will continue to deny my transaction) Me: (Asks what can be done about it) Operator: (Tells me to get an invoice from the seller or pay through the Credit/Debit card option on eBay) -->Wtf? How exactly do I get an invoice from the seller if I haven't purchased anything? Me: (Explains that the seller only accepts Paypal) Operator: (Explains the process of paying through Credit/Debit card, i.e. without the need of a Paypal account) -->Lady, did you listen to what I said? I said that the buyer only accepts Paypal. Operator: (Says that I'm calling from [another country]) -->Seriously, doesn't Paypal have a system to track the phone numbers and/or locations of callers? Me: (Tells her that I am currently in and calling from the U.S.) Operator: (Says the transaction must have been denied because I am currently in the U.S. and trying to buy with a Credit/Debit card from [another country] linked to my Paypal account) -->Wtf? I bought something else a couple of days ago while in the U.S. and it worked absolutely fine. Operator: (Tells me that because this is an international issue, she will need to transfer my call to another line) Me: (Tries to explain to her that my previous purchases worked fine while I was in the U.S. but keep getting interrupted) Operator: Unfortunately I will have to transfer your call. Me: I could buy some... Operator: I will have to transfer your call. Me: No, please listen I bought... (trying to explain to her that I bought something successfully earlier) Operator: I need to transfer you to someone else who can help. -->Seriously, why aren't you listening to what I am saying?? You have it WRONG, because my other transactions worked FINE. Me: Listen, please... please listen. Me: I bought something earlier while in the U.S. and it worked fine. Operator: I need to transfer your call. *transfers call* The second operator was MUCH better. He told me that my transaction was denied, but helped me to proceed with the transaction by trying to remove the restriction for this one occasion. Not only did he give a proper solution, there was no bs from the operator. The operator actually LISTENED and appeared to value my concern, unlike the previous one. From the customer service experience and experience with this "security" system that they have, right now I wouldn't use Paypal if I could avoid it.
