I was shopping on Pergolas-Tech.com, where they sell cosumer electronic devices, mainly headphones. The website itself is not evidently fraudulent, because the prices of its products are not unusually low; most products are priced just at MSRP, except for some items which they mark as "on sale". They accept PayPal, and they claim that customers are eligible for PayPal buyer's protection. I ordered two products, and upon check-out, I was not taken to the PayPal payment page; instead, I was directly brought to the order confirmation page, on which it directed me to send payment manually to the provided email address. I thought maybe they are a small business and have to accept payment this way, so I followed their instruction. Also, I knew that if I send payment with the "pay somebody" feature of PayPal, I can cancel the payment before the recipient accepts payment, should something happens; even if he/she accepts, I can initiate a case and have PayPal step in. I was not too worried. A few days has passed, I have neither seen the payment being accepted, nor the order being shipped. I sent a few emails to their customer service email address, but the emails were undeliverable; obviously their email address was obsolete. I called their customer service number a few times, and my calls never went through; their number was obsolete as well. I directly sent an email to the email address I used for PayPal payment, nothing happened. Interestingly, everytime I clicked on the "view my order" link in the "order confirmation email", I was directed to a payment instruction page which showed a different payment email address. All email addresses start with some letters (likely first name and last name) followed by a three-digit number, very much like an auto-generated address. At this point of time this website appears highly suspicious. I have not been a victim though, because my payment has never been accepted by the recipient. Maybe they have abandoned that email address because of previous fraud reports? I have no idea. What do you think? Should I report? If so, to whom? Thank you!
