This week my account was hacked. In a matter of minutes, my entire Paypal account balance AND my checking account were wiped out. Someone had used my account to make dozens and dozens of purchases for Bitcoins on ebay. Quite possibly everyone's worst financial nightmare, right? Thankfully I noticed the fradulent activity very quickly, and called Paypal. The Customer Support representative who worked on my case was fantastic. He was professional, but also patient and kind, which helped me calm down from the extreme freak-out mode I was in. Together we were able to identify all of the fradulent transactions, file claims for all of them (and there were a LOT), and get the ball rolling on canceling and refunding those transactions. The representative I spoke to explained every aspect of the process, helped me reset my password and security settings, and offered a lot of helpful suggestions for preventing this from happening again. I called again the next day just for an update, and the second Customer Support representative I spoke to was equally helpful. I just wanted to know what kind of time frame to expect, since the first of the month was coming up soon, and I had bills and a mortgage to pay. She expedited the claims process and while I was on the phone with her. After a brief hold period, all of my funds were restored, including funds that had been transferred from my checking account. In less than 24 hours, Paypal resolved the situation and restored my funds. Absolutely stellar customer service. If anyone knows of a a way to contact Paypal directly with these praises, let me know. Via the email contact forms on Paypal's website, you are required to select topics and sub-topics that pertain to your support issue, and I do not want to clutter those forms of communication while other customers require support. Paypal, please consider adding an option to these menus that allows customers to simply say THANK YOU. Your support team deals with problems and complaints all day, every day, and they deserve a positive pat on the back every so often!
