Hi everyone, very nearly caught by car scammers, this one was called Markscott because I needed a quick sale I was thrilled at a buyer in less than a day, same format as what I have since read on here. Navy vet on deployment wants car as surprise for son after he graduates, consider it sold, $300 dollars extra to take the ad down, same dialog no access to telephone agent for freight of car needs $600 up front plus $100 fee for transfer through western union so he would add this onto money for car, then I could pay western union via postal payment. Payment for my car would then be released from PayPal, I was stupid enough earlier in the conversation to give him my bank details, I had become suspicious but not enough until he starting saying about paying the $700, he said I should have received a message from PayPal saying they were holding the money, I checked my email, nothing, then he said check spam as well, nothing, then he sent me very convincing copy of receipt from paypal saying money received and full details of payment breakdown, I then emailed he and said I was going to check with my bank, they said not aware of any payment and to contact PayPal direct, yes I did to discover that this is a long standing scam of many years, so the upshot is my PayPal account is safe, but I have had to contact my bank so they are aware not to pay out for anything unusual before contacting me. I am left feeling stupid, violated and so angry. Sorry this is so long but this is all I can do to stop anyone else being fooled like I also was.
