I completed my first sale on US eBay and had no idea that I would end up being charged an additional 2.9% fee on Paypal. I was aware of all the fees eBay charges and had made sure I read the documentation on that carefully. Now when I added my Paypal to eBay through eBay, nowhere could I find any information telling me that PayPal would also charge a fee at the end of receiving the funds from the buyer. There goes my Paypal is free to use in the trash bin. I was also told pretty plainly by Customer Support that the fees are standard, documented on Paypal and they cannot reverse it (Oh I'm sure it is documented and must be standard. Just mentioned in a very smart and subtle way on Paypal instead of eBay for new users like me to not notice beforehand). Had I known, I would've definitely considered not using Paypal to receive the payment (Could do without the added security seeing the amount) or would've atleast adjusted the item price to accommodate this 'hidden fee'. I thought it might be worth a shot asking here and seeing if there's any similar/any circumstance at all in which this 2.9% I was charged could be refunded considering what happened here. Or could I ask the buyer to cancel the payment and send it some other way? What can I do here? The outcome would basically decide if I wanna use PayPal ever again. Thank you.
