My landlord requires all tenants pay rent via PayPal. However, in Baton Rouge it is virtually impossible to locate any stores which actually HAVE PP mycash cards. Last month I went to 15 different authorized PP Mycash card vendors before finding one that had cards. I had the foresight to grab a few extra cards, anticipating the same situation would exist this month when rent was due. Fortunately I did, as I noticed when I went to CVS to load two cards (necessary as there is a 500/card limit, and my rent is 800) that they STILL have zero cards in the store. Also, the mycash site says, to reload the card, simply "snap off the bottom " & take it to authorized load location. I tried giving her the bottom for reloading & was told she had to have the top half to be able to scan the UPC code on the TOP half to be able to reload it. So I grabbed two new, never loaded, cards from my glove box and was able to load THEM. I am beyond frustrated with the flaws in the system, which I am FORCED to use since it's how our landlord requires rent be paid. I will keep the precious few whole, intact, cards i'd grabbed last month. After reading the multiple posts in this forum by people who have loaded large amounts of money, only to have it "disappear", without satisfactory resolution on the part of Paypal (or its mycash card servicers), I have serious concerns about the safety of my funds. The card availability is surely an issue that needs to be resolved, but it seems like the whole system /programy is in dire need of an overhaul.
