Right from the beginning I had only one beef with PP, how the only way I could solve certain mysteries by seeing what each recent transaction did to my balance was to request a downloadable report, which took multiple steps and waiting for it to be available (available to download, another step). And by 'waiting' I don't mean a couple seconds while watching a spinny wheel or something, I mean "Thanks for your request, you'll receive a notification when it's ready". Like WHAT? Why would such a basic sorting task take any time at all, let alone not be an immediately-readable option, like on any other bank account home screen?!! Oh, and even after all that, the report generated had a hideous format, making it hard to read. So maybe two years ago I came here to the community forum, I saw that lots of other people had made inquiries about this, and the best advice I found was to switch to a business account, because that interface offers a 'Balance affecting' option in the pull-down menu of Activity. So I switched, and VOILA, it was true! And thus my satisfaction with Paypal was finally 100%. Now......today.....I needed to see my running balances to make sense of something......but 'Balance Affecting' is GONE from the menu! It was there the last time I wanted it, maybe a week ago, but not now! There is now something called 'Balance View' and NO, it is not just a different name for 'Affecting;' it's a total mess, all out of order, and things that actually make me MORE concerned than ever! Like how could two different recent payments both result in the same balance? And once again, there is that old prompt to get the wonky download....like now that is the only way to do it, even with a business account. What I don't understand is WHY??? Why do they WANT it to be so hard for their customers to see the most logical view of their history? I can't help but suspect it's some nefarious reason, because when brick and mortar banks do stuff like reorder purchase sequences, it's to cause overdrafts and maximize the number of $35 OD fees (been there, sued for it, and WON). But I can't think of why PP would want to do anything similar.
