I've finally figured out the only "safety" benefit of using PayPal is when making purchases from ebay or "unknown" retail companies (specifically if you can purchase via a credit card-since credit cards have their own safety benefits built in when making purchases). PayPal has (at least 4 times) worked as a barrier to me receiving my money back timely when items ordered from major companies were not delivered as promised. They make "you" work directly with the company on your dispute. I did that, the company confirmed that "they" cancelled my order & that I should not have a payment to them from PayPal however, PayPal simply tells you that you MUST wait for a lengthy amount of time until "they" receive responses from the company. How is that helpful? Why do they tell you to reach out to companies to resolve disputes when in fact the company can't refund money that PayPal charged to your card/bank account (only PayPal can do that!). Companies (in my cases) agreed that errors were made, stated they'd responded to PayPal however I've had to wait "weeks" for dispute resolutions/release to receive refunds of my money from PayPal (that's the barrier)! Had I simply used my card to make the purchase directly on the company's website and reached out to them for a refund (which I had to do ANYWAY), I would have only waited a few days to get my money back (same day refunds if you can actually go into the store to resolve your issues)! Is it just me???
