Thanks so much for the insight. If only I had known several years ago what you just told me. But in my ignorance I thought that selling stuff on eBay was no more than an on-line yard sale and that my earnings were not taxable income. If you look at my auctions under my id of "tankrider7" you will note that it is all British Army vehicle parts and equipment, which was my hobby dating back to 1992. I was forced to retire at age 63 for health reasons and am on a fixed income. I'm selling off my collection on eBay to make some supplemental income. Ever since the IRS tagged me for back taxes they have been on me without end, it seems like. I'm actually apprehensive about going to my mailbox. As for the things in my collection I'm selling now, I have no records of how much I paid for each and every item which makes it tough to come up with figures. I'll take your advice and get the Quicken software you mentioned and start running my "hobby" on eBay as an on-line Army surplus outlet, for lack of a better term. Thanks so much for your advice, I will take it to heart. Kind regards, James
