I have a very strange problem. A few weeks ago, I withdrew $900 from my Paypal account and transferred it to my bank account. I've been doing money transfers like this for 12 years now with the same Paypal account with no problems whatsoever. This time, the money immediately bounced back into my Paypal account with a notice saying the transfer could not be completed because of a technical error. Okay, so then I tried transferring the same amount again. Two days later, I'm at my bank and I notice that the $900 money transfer went through TWICE and $1800 got added to my bank account. I immediately notified my bank manager and he said wait a week or so to see if the situation straightened itself out. I waited. The situation did not straighten out. I was just about to contact my bank again when Paypal sent me a notice saying I had a money transfer of $900 that got added to my bank account as a result of a technical error and please make sure your Paypal account has $900 in within 5 business days as we will debit your account. Fine. No problem. So I immediately (like within hours of the Paypal email coming into my inbox) transferred $900 back to my Paypal account. However, the money transfer going back was estimated to take 6-8 business days. So, come the fifth business day, even though I can clearly see the $900 transfer in Pending status in my Paypal activity list, Paypal comes along on the 5th day and debits my account for $900 before the transfer coming back completed and puts my account in the red for the first time in 12 years. My account is now in a negative balance all on account of a glitch that happened on Paypal's end. What are the consequences of having a negative Paypal balance? Is it safe for me to wait a day to see if my transfer finally comes through? My Paypal account has been in perfect standing for 12 years. This is insane. Any feedback would be appreciated.
