@sharpiemarker I've always used my PP balance for ebay purchases, and suddenly since I got a new deposit (a small amount, way under $60), my PP balance now has an asterisk at the end of the amount, and nowhere can I find what that asterisk means, and last month I made a purchase of $21 from ebay and when I clicked on 'accept and pay now' it shows an option to use either CC or paypal, but not the paypal balance, when I selected paypal, it showed a CC as the preferred payment method, to which I assumed the amount would be deducted first from my PP balance and if there was insufficient funds, then it would charge my CC, but not this case, after the items were delivered, I checked my PP account and there was no charge made to my account, so I checked my CC statements, and yep, there it is, payment for those items, it seems PP charged my CC even though I have more than enough funds in my PP balance to cover it. I even tried sending a small amount to my brother in the UK, and what happened? PP asked to select a CC, there was no option to use my PP balance, it was like as if I had a 0 balance. This to me, looks like a scam on PP's behalf, it seems deposits to the account can be made, but to use that balance is a no, which means a huge generation of interest for PP. I have linuked/unlinked and relinked my PP account to ebay several times and it hasn't been fixed. Also, when I first setup my PP account I was going to start a business, so I thought it would be easier to setup a PP business account then when I have the tax Id to enter that, but the business venture fell through so I don't have a tax ID, and now I keep getting reminders to add my tax ID (which I don't have), so, within a period of around 1 1/2 years I contacted PP support about 40 times to downgrade my account to personal, but did they listen? NOPE! And there is NO way I'm going to enter my SSN over the internet, I don't even give it to my Dr's. So far I have kept a good credit score, by releasing my SSN to institutions that absolutely need it, such as government departments, but throwing it around willy nilly? Yeah that ain't gonna happen. What should happen is if there's not enough funds in PP, then ask for a CC, otherwise use that balance.
