Eric222, Thanks for being a reasonable voice in this rather incredible discussion. It appears that a number of responders in North Carolina have not only been influenced by years and years of Fox News and other right wing media, but have obviously not even read, or understand, the ACTUAL intent of this onerous and likely unconstutional law that attempts to legalize blatant public discrimination against a certain communiity of citizens who were born with a different orientation than a majority of the populatioin. Yes, the published show-piece of the legislation provides a legal method to further discriminate against transgendered citizens who are in the unfortunate position of having to use public restrooms from time to time, however, the real intent of the law is to advance an even darker purpose. The several states that have passed, or attempted to pass, these so called, "Religious Liberty" laws to legally discriminate against the Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered community in the public marketplace are now being rewarded for their actions in the arena that really counts - their economic life. It is a fact that a solid majority of the states in this country would not even entertain the idea similiar legislation because of the severe damage it would inflict upon the reputation and economy of their entire population were it to pass. The citizens of North Carolina who support this law have only to look at the examples, and the consequences, of similiar legislation in Indiana, Missouri and Georgia. North Carolina and Mississippi, you are next. This will be interesting.
