I wrote a £130 invoice to customer in Israel. Let's see what's in transaction details. Total amount: £130.00 GBP Fee amount: -£6.96 GBP Net amount: £123.04 GBP Trying to understand where these numbers come from. If I substract 20p from £6.96 and divide it by 130, I get 5.2%. I am paying 2.4% + 20p transaction fee at Merchant rate. For currency exchange PayPal charges extra 4% for on top of misterous bulk exchange rate which I assume is 1% on top of Mastercard exchange rate. But 5.2-2.4=2.8%. Where does it come from? What is 2.8%? More over. If you try to reverse engeneer the mistarios PayPal deeds and figure correct ammount for your next transaction. E.g. if you want to get £65.46 from your customer, you take £65.46, add 20p and divide it by 100% minus 5.2%. (65.46+0.2)/(100%-5.2%)=£69.26 Almost £4 on £65? Also consider 5% it took from buyer for 'currency exchange', it is robbery in a broad daylight. From this formula you can see that PayPal is applying the 5.2% on top of the 20p too, which makes it 21.04p. I can't imagine anything more obscure and difficult than that. Formula comes from calculation that (using amounts as example above) 123.04=130-130*5.2%-0.2 123.04+0.2=130*(100%-5.2%) 130=(123.04+0.2)/(100%-5.2%) C'est dommage! As French would say. David
