Hi everyone, quite a long story so please bear with me...I had my new PayPal account limited on 23/06/15 for "high risk activity", this high risk activity involved me moving money from an old unwanted business account in to a new personal account to use on an online gaming site and then back to my business account for withdrawal...now, the reason I had to do this? I didn't want to use a business account for online gaming and actually wanted to close the account all together BUT PayPal's system wouldn't allow me to remove my bank account to link it to my new account so the only way I could withdraw money was to send it back to the account (the unwanted business account) to then transfer to my bank! I did this for a few months before getting fed up of constantly toing and froing money and after many emails had gone unanswered and call back requests never returned, I eventually contacted customer services and they were able to remove the bank account for me and attach it to my new personal account! At last, I thought my issue was finally resolved...well, how wrong was I! I attempted to use the new PayPal account to make a purchase to only be told it couldn't be processed, contacted PayPal and they said they would flag it to override the system as they couldn't see any issues with my account, well, that didn't work so I called again and got told to wait 24 hours, so I waited! Well, the next morning, I get an email to say my account is limited and to provide proof of identity, bank statements etc, so I sent all that off thinking the limit would be lifted to then receive an email telling me my appeal was refused and they had reversed the withdrawals and were withholding MY money! WTF?! Many many angry phone calls and emails later I get told my account will be permanently limited, yet the email I received said they would initiate the closure of my account yet the customer service representative said that no, it will just be permanently limited but not closed as they can't do that when it's limited! I have now decided I want nothing more to do with PayPal as their customer service was appalling, even telling me they couldn't help as I was "no longer a customer", but if I'm no longer a customer, how can they withhold my money and keep my account open but not allow me access?! Surely that violates my right to close my account? So, does anyone know if my account will eventually be closed or if it will remain in this state permanently, ultimately giving PayPal access to my financial details and funding sources whilst restricting me from doing anything about that? Oh, I did get my money back after 2 days of them withholding it (thankfully) so that's not the issue, the issue is them refusing to close my account and still having access to my financial information and refusing my request to close my account!
