What a mess! In addition to this default-payment issue, PayPal is in the midst of a site redesign, making it even more difficult to navigate. Using LINBUR0100's instructions, I was able to "disable" Bill Me Later as the default payment method. However, the only other available option was the non-specific "Other sources". So, I had absolutely no idea exactly what payment method became the default. I called Customer Service and, apparently, they've been getting an earful about this -- and about the clumsy, unintuitive site redesign. The person I talked to confirmed that when I changed Bill Me Later as the default payment method, the "other source" defaulted to my primary bank account. I'm not sure if this is always the case, however. This is my theory: Now that PayPal and Bill Me Later have combined to form PayPal Credit, the powers that be are trying to increase usage of Bill Me Later to generate even more revenue. To this end, they've set Bill Me Later as the payment default for customers with an account, and made it nearly impossible to choose an alternative. This is deceitful and disgraceful. Shame on you, PayPal.
