I was in a long item not received dispute with a seller, no tracking number. I waited over three weeks before I opened the dispute, seller seemed helpful, about a week later she claimed she had sent a replacement. I was happy but didn't close the dispute because it's happened to me before that a seller said that just to close the dispute. Anyway, 40 odd days since I made the payment the items were stil missing (this is a European transaction btw so it shouldn't take this long) and no replacement order has ever made it to my door. So earlier today I escalated and now I just got an email from PayPal saying the seller has provided them with a tracking number that they still need to check. My original order, and for all I know my replacement order too, were not supposed to be shipped with the Signed For service, the seller never said anything about that. But I thought, great , must be just a delay, now I have a tracking number, I will probably get my replacement in a few days... and off I went to check the status... But the Royal Mail track and trace service doesn not recognise the number. It gives me this: " Please try again. The reference number you have entered may be incorrect. Please check and try again. Find out more about tracking reference numbers. Information on your International Signed For™ item is not yet available." So either the number provided is fake, or it was shipped out just a few hours ago, after I escalated. So my guess now is the seller shipped out either finally my order (I doubt that) or probably just an empty envelope today in a rush, that's why it doesn't appear on the website yet. At the moment I can't add any comment to the claim, I can just close it or modify it. So no way I can point all this out to PayPal. Will PayPal really check the tracking number? Will they care that the tracking doesn't work? If it does work in a few hours, will they care it's so recent, probably sent after I escalated? Will they care that the parcel has not been delivered yet? I will refuse delivery anyway, will that make any difference?
