Hello community, My daughter is going to school in Europe and I want to transfer her some spending money via PayPal (or, at least, I want to figure out if PayPal is a cost-effective method to do so). However, I am confused by what the fees will be to send her money -- and PayPal's "help" section only makes things more confusing. My question is simple: ignoring the exchange rate (let's assume it is competitive), what are the total fees involved to send €2,000 to my daughter's European PayPal account from my Canadian PayPal account? I have the money already in my account (and PayPal is linked to my bank account). On the "tranfer page" PayPal says there is a €10 fee, which I can pay, on top of the €2,000 (which is somewhat acceptable). However, when I click the hyperlink under the word "fee" it takes me to a page which says there is a 3.9%+.35 Euros fee for receiving "cross border payments" (which, in this case, would amount to more than €78 on top of the €10 fee (totally unacceptable!). However, what stopped me from just abandoning the whole thing, was the question of why the €10 fee in the first place? Is that the fee? PayPal then, I am to assume, is just bad at math? So, will my daughter be charged another €78 for accepting my gift? Thank you for any help
