Hi, I am currently unemployed, and whilst waiting to hear back from a few jobs i have lined up, i thought i would look for some part time work on gumtree to keep me going. I saw an advert from somebody looking for an Ebay Auction Poster, i thought that was something i could do as i have successfully sold on ebay before, and i could do it from home. the person who posted the advert explained to me that he owns a pawn shop and wants to start selling his items online through ebay after seeing how much the items are selling for. He, however, has not got an ebay account and does not want to list items with a zero feedback rating. That's where i come in... He has sent me pictures and the the body of the text that he wants in his listing, all i have to do is the physical listing of the item, and i get paid at the end of auction regardless of whether it sells or not. He will then send the item from his location whilst the money arrives in my paypal account which I will send him minus the money owed to me. I have listed the item, and have told a few friends too. Everybody has doubts over this, one friend even telling me that she thinks this is laundering. so after a bout of panic, i e-mailed the item owner expressing these issues and asking for some type of proof... he has since replied with the following e-mail... "believe me that here everything is 100% legit and all the items are genuine, not stolen or counterfeited. There is nothing dodgy... I attached you a copy of my passport ." i have seen the passport copy and it looks real to me, but then i don't know how i would be able to tell the difference between real or fake passports. My biggest worry is that, because it is me who has listed the item, it means that if this is not legitimate, then it is my ebay account, my paypal account, and me personally who will suffer. What i really need to know is even though there have been bids on the item, if i am able to end the listing before it is due to end? And if i let the listing complete its course and somebody has bought the item, and then it turns out the pawn shop owner is not for real, then if i explain this to ebay and paypal will they see it from my point of view? or will they hold me responsible? I have kept all of the e-mails between us incase i need to use them for anything, and i have also kept the copy of his passport. does anybody have any advice they can give me? thanks
