Thank you for confirming that it happened to you, too. I do not like this practice. I KNOW I did not authorize PayPal Credit as any kind of default method. I wrote to customer service about it several times and got new answers with each rep who replied to me, though none of them owned up to verifying that PayPal somehow made this change. I have learned that there are TWO default payment methods now, one for shopping in stores and the other for shopping on line. It was my on line shopping default that got switched to PayPal Credit and it did take PayPal customer service to officially change it back to my checking account (it is done now). In case it helps, here is a portion of what one of the customer service reps wrote to me about how this may have "happened" and how to change it back: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changing how you pay for an item or send money When you make a payment, we use money from your PayPal balance first. If you don’t have enough money in your PayPal balance or you don’t want to use it, you can select another payment method. If you have a confirmed U.S. bank account and a debit or credit card on your PayPal account, we automatically use your U.S. bank account for payments, but you can switch to your credit card to make a valid payment at the time of purchase. Here is how you can change your payment method during checkout: 1. Click the arrow beside the payment method shown in the "You're paying with" section. 2. In the "Payment Methods" section, select the payment method you want to use. If you have a PayPal Plus Credit Card, eBay MasterCard or PayPal Buyer Credit account, you will see a Switch Now box. Click Switch Now to change to your PayPal credit payment method. Your PayPal balance will not be used to make the payment. Note: Please review your choices carefully before clicking Send as details of the transaction, including the payment method, cannot be changed after you send the payment.
