Months ago Paypal began sending "Ward, your [monthname] account statement is here" email messages. As far as I can tell, these messages are legitimate. But I've never clicked a link in one of these messages. The latest message gives instructions on finding my account information online: "You can access your statement when logged in to your account simply by clicking Statements under My Account." That's fine. But the message ends with a tempting, phishing-like link: "Log in to view now" Far from being a convenience, a major effect of this link is training Paypal customers to click similar links in phishing messages. What a BAD, BAD, BAD IDEA! I reported my concern about this dubious practice when the messages first started arriving, but my concerns were apparently ignored. So I turning to this forum as a means of encouraging Paypal to clean up its act. -- Ward
