I have been a longstanding member of Paypal with no problems whatsoever in my past dealings. I have always used my bank checking account as my primary source of funding when making purchases on-line through Ebay or other on-line merchants. My back-up funding has been my credit card. A year and a half ago, my credit card was stolen so I it canceled and a new one issued; same bank, same name just a different number. I thought I had updated everyone who needed to know but since my funding option on Paypal was my checking account I never thought to update the card information here. The expiration date on both the old and new cards is the end of this current month. In the past two weeks, I tried to make a purchase through Ebay and when my Papal account was brought up to make the payment, it had defaulted to my credit card (the cancelled one) without my knowledge. I did not notice at the time that it was not going to use my PRIMARY source of funding (my bank checking account) so the payment was declined. I then realized that I had not updated my credit card information and did so immediately. At the same time, I tried to delete the old (canceled) credit card for the account but the system would not let me do so. I called and explained my situation to a customer service representative and they did get the old card removed. At the same time I explained that the Paypal system was not only no longer defaulting to my bank checking account for funding but that it did not even allow for the option of doing so when I tried to make a payment. In my Account settings on Paypal it did show the bank checking account as being my primary source of funding and I was told that the problem would be resolved. That was 2 weeks ago. Since then I have had the same problem and have contacted Paypal customer service two additional times getting different stories each time with no results. The last conversation was with a very rude lady who would not listen to my explanation of the problem but instead kept giving me all sorts of reasons why I could not use my bank checking account as my primary funding source.. When I finally got a word in, I asked her to please be quiet long enough for me to speak and explain my problem in more detail At that point she very rudely hung up on me. I still have the same problem. Is this what Paypal considers Customer Service?
