Don't ever buy something on PayPal if you actually expect to be protected. I bought a $500 violin from Portugal (I'm in Canada) which was a 1940s violin in execellent condition. I received it, the bridge was from a viola, the neck was chipped and 3 experts told me it was from 1980s and is worth about $40 as it's an old high school violin. The seller even put $40 as the value on the customs form. Anyway PayPal obviously let me return it, but they told me I have to pay for shipping and as it's over $325 I must require the person signs for it. Shipping cost me $250 which they said I have to pay as it's in their ToCs. So ridiculous, so now I just lost $250 because some guy ripped me off and sent me something completely not what I bought. I even told the PayPal rep that basically what they are saying is that I should open an eBay store selling LV, Chanel and Gucci jeans, go to Old Navy buy $10 ones on clearance and glue on a logo. Maybe I'll get lucky and the buyer won't notice, but worst case if they do, all I lose is the shipping to send it to them as their policy basically promotes ripping people off since you have nothing to lose. The girl had nothing to say to that and said it's just their policy. Complete waste of money.
