About 3 years ago somebody purchased a £5 gift voucher to be used against my paypal address. It showed as a pending balance of £5 on my account for about 18 months, then disapeared due to inactivity. I no longer have the email addresses of the purchaser or the recipient, as these have not been stored anywehere on my account. I now want to close my paypal account, and merge it with another I have seeing as you can add email addresses to paypal accounts. However, everytime I try to close my account it won't let me and the following message comes up: This account cannot be closed because of an outstanding Gift Voucher liability. For more information, contact customer support. I have contacted customer support about 6 times now, and each time I reply a new person seems to pick up the case, and not understand what I mean by a paypal gift voucher, and then I have to start the whole explanation again and it is getting VERY frustrating!! Does anyone know how I remove a gift voucher liability from my account? I never received this £5, I have no idea what the purchaser or gift recipient want to do with it, they can have it back for all I care. As far as I can see, paypal have this money, so why is my account status being affected? I just want to close my account, and have been trying to do so for months now!!
