I was on a computer using the PayPal site when trying to pay for my purchase. PayPal said, they could not complete the transaction now. Then later on, I received this text message below:
"PayPal Fraud Alert: Are you trying to pay $73.82 USD? If yes, reply 1. If no, reply 2. Msg & Data rates apply."
Before I received this text, I used a credit card to pay for the purchase and was done buying what I needed. I was finished shopping and no longer needed PayPal for the purchase.
When I saw this question, of course, I was already done with my transaction so I said, NO, selecting #2
Then I received this following text from PayPal.
"PayPal: We're sorry, you can't send or request money by text anymore. Download the PayPal app or log in at PayPal.com instead. Thanks!"
I was not using a text to send money or communicate with anybody except PayPal - I was using the text to communicate with PayPal.
Why would they send this to me when my purchase had nothing to do with texting or the app? I was logged in to PayPal and working from PayPal website to the seller's web site... thanks for suggestions and clarification
