I recently purchased a snowmobile on eBay and used PayPal to pay both the deposit and balance due (sale date on eBay was Jan. 28, delivery date of sled was Feb. 3). I won't get into too many details here, but in a nutshell, the sled delivered was not the one pictured and I am not happy. I was just able to file a reimbursement request through eBay's VPP last week and this morning I forwarded the information to eBay's Auction Insurance Agency (this was what I was told to do as a result of the reimbursement request I had made). Although I should be hearing from the AIA in the next business day, my question is, since you have 45 days to file a dispute/claim in PayPal, #1 can I do that if the sale originated on eBay, and #2 if I can, at what point should or can I do that? I am assuming that it was correct to go through eBay's VPP first since that is where the transaction was initiated, and although I have been successful in two other eBay claims in the past (for small items that I paid for and never received), this is my first really negative experience on the motors side of eBay. From what I have gleaned from other discussions, it appears that I can only dispute this through eBay, but want to make sure I have all my bases covered and in the allocated timeframe.
