I agree.   I don't use invoices either and when the customer clicks the buy now button and pays, I get an e-mail. Maybe those who use invoices need to find another way to send invoices and just use the paypal shopping cart buttons.   It seems it is the invoice system that paypal can't get fixed. ... View more

I set up my website with a number of PayPal buttons and yesterday was the first sale.   The customer used two different buttons to orer and i received notification within a few minutes. So I know at least the button items are working.   I don't know about e-bay as I have yet to use it again since this problem occured a few months ago. ... View more

As I said earlier my new website is set up with Paypal buttons, no shopping cart as I only have a few items.   Now I don't know if I'll get a notice when someone orders something or not.   This is very troubling as a new vendor I don't want to alienate my customers but I suppose I could explain on my website about Paypal's shortcomings and have each customer e-mail me.   But then why should I allow Paypal to charge me fees for the transaction if they are only doing half the job.   The more I think about this maybe I should set up Propay instead and handle credit cards myself. ... It's 18 hours and still no e-mail.   Another option is ProPay but that requires you to collect and enter all the CC data yourself.   Not as easy or convenient.   Do NOT use GPal, it has turned out to be a scam. ... View more

Its been 6 hours since my last payment was received by PayPal yet no e-mail.   Had to keep checking my PayPal since the auction ended yesterday. Hope this isn't happening with the Buttons.   I just set them up for my website and depend on them to know when a customers buys something. The IPN is much more than just checking off the PayPal link.   According to the PDF (read it if you can understand it) you must create a listener on your website, whatever that is. Nothing's easy. ... View more

WOW!   I just read the lengthy PDF on IPN and creating the code and can only say WOW.   I am not a web designer per say.   I have a small, simple website that I made with Komposer but the code for IPN is way beyond me. I chose PayPal as my payment method because it was supposed to be an easy method and the buttons did integrate well.   But I anticipate selling only 2 or 3 items a week or maybe none and I completely rely on the e-mail notification.   I don't know if this problem affects me as I just set up the web site and haven't had a sale yet.   I cannot keep logging into PayPal (a multi-step process now) to just check if someone has placed and order, nor should I have to.   One of the features of the buttons was to receive notification upon payment. Maybe this won't affect my website as my recent experience was with an e-bay sale.   Time will tell and hopefully any customers that order from my website will send an e-mail when they order.
